Work in Progress: All Just Glass
Sequel to Shattered Mirror
SingleEarth would take her in if she asked. Nissa could teach her how to survive without killing. There were pockets of peace in the world, and if she could just find one of them, she could make a life there. As Kristopher had pointed out, she had forever. (Final lines, Shattered Mirror)

The Vida line is ancient and powerful; the witches born to it are raised to be proud and solid, unwavering, unflawed. Its teachings are harsh and its laws are strict, for that is what must be so, if the mortal line is to survive in the face of the immortal creatures it has hunted since time unwritten.

Sarah Vida is the youngest of her line. She was raised a witch and a hunter, and though she occasionally stumbled, never seeming able to emulate the cool perfection of her mother and sister, she never strayed- until the gentle affection of Christopher Ravena, a vampire changed in pre-Civil War Virginia, blurred her black and white world into a thousand shades of gray. As every Vida knows, doubt and hesitation in a hunter’s mind only ever occupy the moments before she dies.

And so it was.

Now Sarah Vida walks as one the creatures she once hunted. In the eyes of her mortal family, she is dead, with only a monster left to inhabit the shell that had once been a witch of their line. Worse, the woman she had called Mother has invoked one of the ancient Vida laws, the Rights of Kin. Now that the Rights have been demanded, there is no sanctuary, no safe haven, nowhere Dominique's hunters cannot go.

Adianna Vida, Dominique's surviving daughter, is the one given the order: Track her down, and when you find her, put a knife in her heart.

In a way, I started writing All Just Glass before I had even finished Shattered Mirror. There were scenes and characters and even full storylines that were in early versions of Shattered Mirror that were taken out during revision; many of those scenes lingered in my mind. In various drafts, Sarah had a fiancé (Michael Arun), Kaleo died, Nikolas fed on Sarah (post-change), Nikolas and Sarah kissed, Sarah killed one of Nikolas’s bonds (a human girl named Ashley), and Adianna and Sarah had a fight to the death. Some were taken out because they didn't work well, but many were taken out because I simply didn't have the room in one book to tell the full story.

I don’t know how much of that will be or even might be in AJG, but let’s just say there was a lot that could have happened in Shattered Mirror and didn’t. Those scenes are still running around, and a couple of them, combined with a great many questions from readers, inspired me to go back and see if I couldn’t bring them to life again.

At this point in time, AJG is on the list of books I hope to published. That's good news, right? The bad news is, that being so, I'm stripping down the AJG section of the site a little, so you will no longer have access to multiple chapters of multiple drafts until I have finished writing the thing. Sorry!
