Unpublished: Castrilan World

By now you should know what Nyeusigrube is: meaning “The Den of Shadows,” Nyeusigrube is the world in which my vampires, Tristes, Macht witches, etcetera, all live. It is the world in which in modern day Forests, Demon, Shattered, Predator, 0113, AJG and many more take place; it is the world in which history is marked by the Kiesha’ra and the Ebony Series. Most of the World essays refer to Nyeusigrube.

The Castrilan world is actually not new to me, but it was only fairly recently that I have begun to work in it actively, and really learn about the myths, magics, cultures and breeds that exist on the still mostly-blank map (because I am at heart a sci-fi writer, and can’t bring myself to just put “impassible mountain range” – no, being me, I’ve put together a whole globe, of which I’ve only filled a fraction).

Castrili

The Castrilan world is named for the largest and greatest human empire to ever exist upon it, Castra. I’ve never written that particular civilization, as it fell more than a thousand years before modern day, leaving bits and pieces behind.

Blood of My Blood

This book, which I tend to refer to in short as just “omB,” was the sixth book I started in this only recently-named world; it was however the first one that went anywhere. I don’t know if it will ever be finished, or for that matter how it might be finished, but it has been fun to write and a great way to get to know some of the more interesting cultures and breeds in Castrili.

Mancer

This one is going places. No, that doesn’t necessarily mean published; I’m having way too much fun with these to even contemplate publishing yet.

The first book in this trilogy was my NaNoWriMo06 novel. I joined the NaNo crowds hoping the pressure and competition of the month-long writing spree would help me get over my nearly year-long writer’s block, so I set up a new world with a few very simple goals, very few of which I accomplished in what turned out to be a really fun and more-complex-than-intended book. Granted I started swearing when I finished the 50,000 word goal for NaNo and instead of getting -- THE END -- I instead got to “PART TWO,” but I’m now working on the third of these 100,000 word novels and still very excited by them.

Mancer takes place in the island country of Kavet, in a culture inspired by a semester studying Restoration Literature, and the reign of the Major-Generals in England.
